Bifacially Beveled Pocket Stones – Invention

I have been a rock guy all my life. Out West, there are hundreds of places to collect mineral specimens, and one of my favorite places to rock hunt is near Floy, Utah. I collected a bunch of agate stones from Ruby Ranch Road and tumbled them to a high polish.
My friend George Row and I thought it would be great to make these things into a golf ball marker. However, the stones that came out of the tumbler were just too clunky and irregular. I needed to find a way to make a consistent circular disk suitable for use as a ball marker.
It took me a long time to figure out the methodology to produce circular pieces. The bottom line is that I appear to have invented the specific design of pocket stones, and I’ve developed a unique process to create them. Lapidary folks have been creating cabochons for jewelry forever, but I have yet to see a bifacially beveled piece anywhere else. Hence, the asserted invention.
The materials are specimens of semi-precious materials from around the world. With my grinders, my intention is to reveal the inner beauty, the heart of the stone.
Pocket stones are widely available on the internet. Many sites promote the metaphysical powers of pocket stones. Google each mineral and can read about the power of minerals.
The pocket stones shown below are my personal collection. I haven’t made them available publically. I displayed them at the DGMG Jewelry, Gem & Mineral Show in Denver in February, 2022 and will display them again at the Denver Gem & Mineral Show (The Denver Show) at the Colorado Convention Center September, 8 – 11, 2022. Drop me a line if you’d like to inquire about the stones.
Here are pictures of what I have so far:
